Summer English Programme at Castle College

Nottingham

 

Castle College Nottingham located in the City of Nottingham in the middle of England was formed in 2006 as the result of the merger between Broxtowe College and The Peopleˇ¦s College.

 

Both of these colleges have a long history of offering special programmes for international students from around the world.

 

The City of Nottingham is one of the UKˇ¦s most attractive and fast developing cities.

 

It has two universities and two colleges, and attracts students from all over the world.

 

Nottingham is the birth-place of many famous people including Robin Hood and the author D H Lawrence and more recently Paul Smith the internationally famous fashion designer.

 

Nottingham has a wonderful array of shopping and social facilities with two theatres and concert halls and internationally recognized sporting venues.

 

Student visitors have a wonderful selection of restaurants with food from all over the world.

 

The Summer English Programme is designed for people who want to:

®         Improve their English language skills

®         Undertake some specialized study or training in a subject of their interest

®         Meet and learn with people of similar interests and from different countries

®         Visit famous locations in the UK

®         Live in an historical city

This programme is designed for teachers of English in overseas secondary schools, colleges, and universities.

 

This summer school is based at the Peoples Campus in the centre of Nottingham for four weeks between mid July and mid August

 

The programme includes:

 

®         English language improvement classes 15 hours per week

®         English teaching methodology 6 hours per week

®         Visits to other educational institutions e.g. University of Nottingham School of Education

®         Introduction to new English language teaching materials

®         How to prepare students for IELTS examinations

®         Social programme of visits in Nottingham: Castle, Galleries of Justice, Theatre

®         Week-end visits to London, Oxford, Cambridge, York

®         Summer school students are accommodated in recently built student apartments in the city centre

®         Each student has their own bedroom with shower and toilet and shares a kitchen and living room with TV

®         The apartments have access to the internet

®         Each apartment has a kitchen with modern cooking facilities, fridge and microwave complete with cooking utensils and crockery and laundry facilities

®         Students are picked up from the airport on arrival into the UK and taken to their accommodation
